Mason’s Lecture Theatre, Francis Bancroft Building, Queen Mary, University
of London

Bank Letter, addressed to Bank of China.

letter。

Photocopy
International

如果有疑问的话也可以随时联系学联qmcn.info@gmail.com或者International
office。

Open Your Bank Account

At the start of this academic year (2008-2009),the Bank of China London Chinatown branch will help newly-arrived internationalstudents at a number of London-based educational institutions to open their first UK bank accounts.

Queen Mary, University of London is now part ofthis scheme which aims to reduce the headache faced by international students in having their essential banking issues solved.

With the on-site help of Bank of China staff and account opening session during the college registration week, international students at Queen Mary can now enjoy the benefit of not having to go to a branch to open their bank account.

The campus bank account opening session, co-organised by Queen Mary, UoL, Bank of China (UK) Ltd, and Chinese Students & Scholars Association will be hosted on the 19th September inside the Mason’s Lecture Theatre.

Bank Account Application session

Where, when and what to do

Date: Friday, 19th September, 2008
Time: Starting at 2:30pm (Don’t be late if you want to open your account)
Location: Mason’s Lecture Theatre, Francis Bancroft Building
What will be happening: Students will complete their current account application forms with the guidance of Bank of China staff. Application forms will then be collected. An initial deposit of £50 is required for opening a current account. The Bank of China will not accept cash over £50 for security reasons; bankers’ draft and cheque will be accepted and their amount is not limited.

Important issues

Documents: Student applicants must bring the necessary documents to open an account. For a detailed list of documents required by the Bank of China, see ‘Required Documents for Opening an Account’ from Bank of China’s product information.

Students must provide their passports and one document to prove their address. For the proof of address, students are advised to acquire a bank letter (Letter from Place of
Study) from the college, available from CB02 (Admission Office) inside the
Queen’s building. Bank letters should be addressed to the Bank of China.

Police Registration is scheduled for 20th September. Therefore, students are advised to use the bank letter as proof of address, and not a police registration certificate.

Help available to students: To photocopy their passports, students can use the public photocopiers located inside the college library. Before you enrol, you can use thephotocopier on the ground floor of the library which takes coins (it costs 5p per copy). After you enrol, you can still use the coin machine or you can buy a photocopy card at the library. Take your student ID card to the issue desk in the library entrance where you will get your PIN number and you can buy a copy card. You can then use any photocopier on all floors in the library. If you run into difficulties photocopying you passport, you can go to the international office (E104, first floor, Queen’s Building) where advice will be available.
